School Nurses: Making Every Child Better

This year's fall conference was help November 5-7 at the Ramada Inn in South Charleston, WV. It was a big success with 120 school nurses in attendance.

Our key note speaker was Dr. Regalena Melrose, a renowned child psychologist from Long Beach, California. She spoke with school nurses about their role in helping students in the aftermath of trauma.

Other speakers included Jim Strawn and Chuck Stump, aithors of the Mad, Sad, Glad Book and Dr. Jill Benchell who discussed the psychological aspects of Diabetes in adolescents.

Elaine Rinehart RN, School Nurse in Wirt County, was named the 2008-2009 School Nurse of the Year at Thursday Nights School Nurses Banquet.
